The credit crunch and the state of the banking system have meant that interest on savings has dropped to virtually nothing. Conventional savings accounts are no longer a sensible way of making a safe return on whatever amount of money you can afford to put away. Small wonder that more people are attracted to the online gambling sites, the casinos and virtual bingo halls in vain attempts to increase the amount of money in their pockets. Those people who understand that the only people who really win at gambling are the people who run the sites.
It used to be the case that only the rich invested their money, either in property, land or precious stones and metals, nowadays people from all walks of life may be looking for investment opportunities. Television programmes about buying and selling and investing in property have encouraged ordinary people who would not have thought of investing in property a few years ago, to take on mortgages and significant property overhauls.
